Most years, my in-laws come here from Idaho. We have a small apartment and end up with 11 people here for a week. It’s a ton of expense, and my bonus usually goes to paying for things for them.

This year, they decided not to come down, and my wife’s parents are going to visit friends on Christmas. For the first time in our marriag3, we get a quiet Christmas alone. We’re going to drink mulled spiked cider, smoke weed, and watch all our favorite Christmas movies and shows.

We had that here in quebec, it happened to our neighbors, not sure who snitched on them, they even went through the trouble of not parking at the same place.

Quite, we had many measures like that during covid. Not allowed to go on walks after 8pm unless you have a dog? Well guess what, everyone bought a dog, resulting in a surge of abandonned dogs when covid ended.

Given the England flag in their name I’m guessing the UK.

I don’t think we had any social distancing restrictions during any Christmas but some did come into effect shortly after, I don’t think people were allowed to visit. I remember us having a new year’s party with our neighbours in the back garden, technically them not allowed to go into our house and having to stay 2 metres from them. Must have been December 2020.

We did but you could have a certain number of people over on Christmas. It then got much stricter just after Christmas.

At least in Germany during Christmas 2020 you were only allowed to have private parties with a maximum of 5 people, from a maximum of 2 households.

This was however not enforced unless some asshole snitched on your family

I mean you could just ask them to leave politely, firmly, and repeatedly, and if they don’t, have the police arrest them for trespassing.

We had this regulation in Europe but it wasn’t enforced unless you made a huge party. It was more an easy way out for people uncomfortable meeting others because of COVID without having to argue about it.

That’s because it didn’t happen unless you had a 600 family member reunion or block party in Florida.

It never happened, this is just historical revisionism. Doubly so because the police will remove people from your house whenever you want.

It never happened where? Because it did happen in the UK - which is clearly where we’re talking about

It happened in Colombia too! Only gatherings of four people, no cars on the streets etc

No, that didn’t happen, I lived in the most COVID paranoid area of California, and I hadn’t heard one paranoid take about any police being used to break up any parties
