By all rights, this kid should be in prison. Since we couldn’t do that, shunning him relentlessly will have to do.

How fucking tone deaf to have a wanna be vigilante, who terrorized people on our own soil, and who killed innocent Americans, be a guest speaker for a charity event benefiting veterans and first responders with ptsd. Honestly, it’s insulting

Edit: also what the fuck, the ceo said the people who are calling out the bad choice are “mentally ill”. I am a veteran with ptsd, I know I’m mentally ill. Don’t fucking diminish my struggle because you don’t like people bringing up valid concerns. Someone needs to smash a guitar over that fuckwad’s head

On Instagram, Shell Shock founder and CEO Tyler Hoover rebuffed the bands ditching the festival, and those criticizing it, saying, “I’m here to tell you, you’re not punk, you’re not hardcore. You people, the people that are trolling and the people that are talking shit, you guys are the mentally ill portion of society. You guys are the ones that are manipulated.”

    Historically reactionary genre, punk.

You know that line from Don Henley’s song “Boys of Summer” that went:

        Out on the road today
I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac

        That’s this guy.

While I’m firmly in the “The Ataris’ cover was better than Henley’s version” camp, and I get the punk/Black Flag connection for this particular comparison, I feel that in general the original gets the point across better. I think more people would have gotten the dissonance of a Caddy driver with a Grateful Dead sticker when the original was recorded, versus the cover.

This CEOs comment is as far removed from punk as possible. I mean that’s like saying Reagan was punk. Opposite ends of the spectrum. I fear these pieces of shit are going to start pushing Nazi punk. Nazi punks fuck off!

Tyler Hoover is part of the machine and represents The Man, most square and uncool. Can’t trust Tyler Hoover to understand why he is part of the problem because he isn’t smart enough for self reflection.

If veteran charities could stop trying to align with fascists this veteran would be a lot happier. I have PTSD and I don’t want a dime of this money. That dumbfuck created his situation and killed someone over property that wasn’t his after threatening to kill protestors. The only reason he isn’t locked up is because the judge is as fascist as he is.

I lost 4,000 friends fighting Authoritarianism and Religious Extremism. I’m not sure where the fuck anyone thinks it’s a good idea to associate us with far right stuff except for the guys trying to recruit us.

How could this chinless monster be any less counter culture than murdering ‘undesirables’ while shielded by cops and the republican establishment?

As a veteran, I get the worst shit thrown at me. All the ads for black rifle coffee and the worst “for men” products. Also, they just assume I’ll vote republican so all the bs that comes with that assumption.

They haven’t really missed until my generation so I get it. A lot of the vets from the 90s and further back are pretty “conservative” to the point that I avoid them at the VA and won’t join those socials anymore.

I feel you. I like to shoot, gardening, and woodworking. Aparently, that makes me a prepper and a fundie. I just want tomatoes and pretty begonias. I purposefully watch leftist stuff on YouTube to “reset” their algo. Works for a few months.

I love canning! Hate everything else. I just want to look up recipes for candied jalapeños without also hearing about batshit theories.

…the only veterans i know who support fascist values are either stolen-valor opportunists or television-brainwashed senile geriatrics…

…all the real veterans i’ve known who still enjoy command of their faculties support legitimate american values instead…

They do rock. They are metalcore with a punk edge. I’d say most similar Sick of it All. Maybe Blood for Blood, H2O, or Agnostic Front.

He deliberately brought a gun to a situation where he knew he could provoke an altercation. The only part of his actions that weren’t premeditated was the people he shot.

Anyone willingly associating themself with this cretin is likewise also despicable.

I commend the other bands for not dropping out, as it really does save us a lot of effort Googling to see if somebody is a Nazi band or not.
