3,000 letters have been sent to Prime Minister Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Joly asking them to break the silence about Saudi Arabia’s actions. In addition, more than 20 civil society organizations have signed a statement, asking the Trudeau liberal government to break their silence. These include World BEYOND War, Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR), and groups from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island.
I think it’s even worse for that. They did say something. But that’s it. Only words, no actions. So now you’re apparently not allowed to criticize them for it anymore because “well they said they were sorry!” and “OMG stop playing that card!”
Even actual indigenous people, who you’d think would know if they’re still being affected by it (for those playing along at home: yes they are), are being shut down in this way.
