I wish Israel commiting crimes against humanity wasn’t normalized. Fuck my country for supporting this bullshit, and fuck Zionism.

We’re just gonna let netanyahu start a regional war to avoid the consequences of his own failures because if we try to stop him AIPAC will do even more to help the neo-nazi riddled republican party win in november.

The 21st century is going great.

Israel is a vassel of the US, the US has no intention of stopping Israel because it benefits economically. This is something the Democrats and Republicans are aligned on.

I don’t think it’s quite that simple. Both parties support the US empire, of which Israel is a keystone piece in a vital region.

But israel’s genocide and a wider war in the middle east don’t benefit our imperial interests, only netanyahu’s career. Without the leverage of an election year, we’d have more political room to reign in our wayward vassal a little.

You both have valid points that are most likely both true.

Reality is more complicated thatn theories. Israel is a US vassal and completly depending on the US. The US needs Israel to assert power in the region. Israeli actors are influencing US politics. US actors have personal interests in Israel. US actors are depending on pro-zionist fundamentalist christian groups. Israeli actors are controlling parts of the US entertainment and news production. Other local players in the region depend on the US and thus support Israel to secure their own power. Racism in the general public is also part of this (some headlines produce more click, than others). And so on and on.

Imo these are all correct assumptions, but even this doesn’t show the whole picture. Reality is too intervowen to completly access it in simple terms.

Then why does it ignore pressure from the US? I think that the relationship is more that of a not entirely trustworthy ally.

It doesn’t, for example Biden approved the invasion of Lebanon. Netanyahu always travels to the US to ask permission for major strikes.
