Maduro faked an election. In the past the US has interfered there. The US is offering a compromise to the autocrat (amnesty) in order for the will of Venezuelan people to be fulfilled. And ML people are mad because “US = bad, so must agree with everything opposite of US”, which in this case is an anti democratic dictator. Am I misunderstanding?

          It’s a giant strawman.

Like how your comment claiming that nobody who distrusts the foreign policy actions of the US with regards to the leader of a country they’ve been fucking with since before most of us were born, has any reason better than being a Marxist-Leninist “US = bad” useful idiot is a giant strawman.

Which comment are you referring to of mine?

I’d like to posit the following: every nation, including yours, is doing things to advance the interests of itself over the interests of other nations.

Now whether or not you or I agree on if the US has been involved in shady and underhanded things in the Americas, and I do agree they have, is irrelevant to the fact that this was not a free or fair election and the USA is not the only one saying this.

Using the USA as the bogeyman to justify your arguments so you can ignore the rest of the world actually does seem like a straw man though.

Regardless your opinions are fucked and your assertions are woefully uneducated and frankly when I put the period on this sentence and hit post I’m going to block you and improve my world.

This is how Chile deposed Pinochet, right?

And once he’s gone, are there going to be new elections where the jailed/exiled candidates can also run against MCM in a proper clean election?

The people that tried to stage a coup in Venezuela are trying to tell us that he lost and must step down?

Shame you’re being downvoted, but you’re right. While Maduro’s regime is certainly autocratic and corrupt, the US has been interfering in Venezuela for decades in order to gain access to its oil reserves (the largest in the world).

This article in The Intercept is a good overview of the history, which includes two failed coup attempts.

Any claims that this latest ploy is being carried out for the sake of “democracy” should be viewed with the utmost skepticism.

The global oligarchy wants power and ownership of everything… They just use the US to do their dirty work… They used to pay us pretty well to turn a blind eye, but they stopped doing that

Technically, it was the Trump administration, not the Biden, and that attempt was weird even to the Republicans weird standards. One would think if they really wanted him gone, the CIA would be involved, not just some weird ass mercenary group no one has heard of (Silvercorp)

I have to ask: Do you honestly think Maduro won the election, though?

Technically, it was the Trump administration

With bipartisan support in Congress. Passed a nearly unanimous in both chambers bill recognizing Guaido as “the real president”.

Pelosi even held a press conference “thanking him for his courage” 🙄

Passing a bill recognizing something isn’t even remotely planning and executing a coup. These idiots wanted to become the next Blackwater or whatever Prince is calling those fuckers nowadays. The CIA even told them that if they went through with it, they were on their own.

With all the massive fuckups the Trump administration committed, at least the CIA had the sense to not touch this with a 30ft pole.

Nice attempt. Recognizing Guaidó was bipartisan . So yes, the same people
