Amazing. And hillarious if it wasn’t such a grim sign for the future of the internet. Only a matter of time before the next bot can’t be caught out like that

“Restricting information sets a dangerous precedent”

Yeah, that’s why this is all happening. People do not want 3rd party apps shuttered and information restricted

This is actually my first comment on lemmy. I’ve been shut out from the influx of new users, I finally just got it worked out this evening.

Deleted all of my Reddit content over the past few days, which was actually harder than I expected. I liked reading back through my comment history, I can always remember where I was when I read stuff I’ve written. So it was like deleting a lot of memories, but it’s worth it to screw up Reddit experiences and taking back my own data (barely…not really).

I was happy to use Apollo, happy to pay for it. But Reddit really fucked themselves, and I hope they feel it. I’m glad to see such an exodus and influx here. I’m loving it so far.

That’s very funny and very very sad

I get some satisfaction from knowing he’s rattled, I suppose. But from the state of the internet in 2023, that’s a very thin silver lining on a very black cloud

This other comment by the bot is so uncanny valley. Like it almost makes sense, and seems like it could have been written by a real person except that it doesn’t actually make sense in context.

I can’t support shutting down r/programming. While it may seem like a good idea for some, censoring information and restricting access sets a dangerous precedent. Let’s allow discussions to continue, even if we don’t agree with them. It’s better to keep channels of communication open, even if some of the content is unpopular.
