It’s always projection.
They’re doing it to us as well, just as they did in the previous cold war.
A Reddit AMA Claiming To Be A Uyghur Quickly Exposes A CIA Asset Slandering China
US-Funded Uyghur Activists Train as Soldiers of Empire:
The [Uyghur American Association]’s leadership consists of U.S. national security state operators including employees of the U.S. government, U.S. propaganda network Radio Free Asia, and the military-industrial complex. Past leaders of the organization include:
[…]
Rushan Abbas, former vice president — Previously boasted in her bio of her “extensive experience working with U.S. government agencies, including Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of State, and various U.S. intelligence agencies.” Served the U.S. government and Bush administration’s so-called war on terror as a “consultant at Guantanamo Bay supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.” Following a disastrous publicity appearance on Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” question and answer forum, during which participants blasted Abbas as a “CIA Asset” and U.S. government collaborator, she has attempted to scrub her biographic information from the internet. Abbas currently heads the WUC affiliate organization, Campaign for Uyghurs.
Every accusation is a confession.
While true, you don’t think China hasn’t done the same thing to other countries?
This kind of everybody’s doing it argument flattens the scale to which countries are doing it to a binary. No country is doing it to anywhere near the scale to which the US is, just as no country but the US has over 750 overseas military bases around the world, and is building more to further encircle China. No other country constantly has multiple regime change operations in play around the world at the same time.
Well yeah. I’m not talking about scale though.
I kinda see your point. Everybody knows the USA does wrong things on a huge scale, and while that is true, the most vocal about it don’t care when the rest of the competing authoritarian regimes do worse things on a smaller scale.

I don’t think it needs to when they can buy influence with cheap loans from their development bank for the Belt and Road Initiative, especially when they keep forgiving loans that can’t be paid back instead of forcing austerity down countries’ throats like the World Bank and IMF.
Countries that are pro-China just have a material interest in their relationship with China. Why bother with an influence campaign?
You seriously think the country that has its own citizens spy on each other for social points doesn’t spy on and try to influence other countries? Lol Come on.
Why would it? China wants to rule China, not the world (unlike the US lol)
You guys are a special kind of naive here

There’s no socal credit in China?
What’s this? https://credit.gz.gov.cn/(Hint: it’s the Chinese social credit system)
Stop being so credulous and believing everything the State Department tells you lol

I’m assuming every large country does this and has done this to every other country for the past like 200 years of not way longer. This is like saying the sky is blue.
US is the one country that dominates global media though.
If you mean movies and such then yea, obviously, but I’m not sure how that connected. I don’t think Hollywood is the puppet of spy agencies to spread disinformation, they are more interested in making money with the least amount of investment.
meanwhile in the real world https://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas/how-hollywood-became-the-unofficial-propaganda-arm-of-the-u-s-military-1.5560575
Like even if Hollywood only made pure propaganda on behest of the CIA and nothing else how is it related to every major country doing disinformation campaigns as long as spy shit has been the norm? Are you saying the US is the most successful at it?
I’m saying that US enjoys disproportionate advantage in the propaganda space because US media dominates in most of the world. This is a well documented fact, and there are entire books written on this subject.
Yea, I don’t disagree. I’m sure any country would take advantage of that. I’m just trying to figure out if you were disagreeing with me or were you just adding a random fun fact about the US?
I’m simply pointing out that while all countries obviously try to spread their influence, US enjoys a massive advantage in that regard. Saying yeah everybody does this creates a false equivalence between the sheer scale of US propaganda compared to other countries.
Precisely how I feel when Americans bleat about Russiagate incidentally.
I mean I think everyone knew every big country is running these operations in the other countries. Hardly a revelation
