      Not that strange honestly. The government would hate to admit loudly via its own propaganda outlets to the world that “if you attack our bases even a little bit we will leave your country.” That sort of proclamation would lead to a clear victory strategy for pretty much everyone who wants the US military out of their country. So it makes sense that they would keep quiet about it.

      I think it’s cause US know they’re not ready for escalation and they’re trying play this down for now.
