I’m new here, so I’d like to know if this project is growing steadily or not really catching on. It has a lot of potentioal imho, but I understand how hard it is to make people use “alternative” websites.

    lemmy’s user-base is fundamentally incompatible with general audiences, for example, the vast majority of people believe there is a “uyghur genocide”, these people will have a hard time using lemmy

    i prefer a small but intellectual user-base so i don’t think we need more users

      I’ve certainly heard that and thought it was true but don’t claim authority on the matter. I’m still having a decent time on the site though. It’s a big community.

      I’ve been here for 3 days, but very active, and honestly I have seen no one discussing such topic. Any specific communities/instances where I can learn more about this?

      And same, I prefer smaller user-base. And 10k is still neglibile in comparison to Reddit or even Hacker News.
