Thought I’d share this speech by Ed, he’s such a great speaker
I don’t completely disagree with you. His speeches use this very calm and thoughtful pacing that my brain instantly links to those wellness/spirituality gurus trying to sell a lifestyle often rooted in privilege or aiming to increase productivity or work performances or this kind of silicon valley hacks you often hear from ceos. Like it was packaged to be distributed through a Ted talk. It feels empty and dishonest.
On the other hand, though, in the wast majority of his videos, he looks like a genuinely kind person. I haven’t watched this video in particular, but if you go through his channel, you probably will be able to at least experience a portion of his compassion and empathy toward non-human animals. Which is probably one of the most important things to communicate to non-vegan people when trying to hand-holding them to the idea that maybe we can avoid hurting animals for food and goods
I think it depends on the personality. I know my girlfriend was more convinced listening to Ed than Joey for example because he’s a bit more aggressive in his communication.
