Maps on F droid was nice but its not working for me , i use sometimes transpotr. i found that OSMand+ is not very user friendly sadly … Another good app for navigating OSM ?

Maybe using OSM from web is an alternative ?

Pocket Maps is kind of nice, but it has stark limitations, like only being able to show maps one region at a time. So, if you live near the edge of such a region, it’s hardly going to be usable.

Maps.me is what the ‘Maps’ app is based on, so you would probably like it, but apparently Maps.me isn’t fully open-source (which is why ‘Maps’ had been created).

Personally, I use OSMAnd. Yeah, it can be difficult to navigate the UI, but it has all the features and I expect it to stay around for a long time, so I figured it would be worth to try and learn the UI.

        From OsmAnd’s F-Droid page:

        Anti-Features:

        • NonFreeAssets - Artwork and layouts are under a non-commercial license.

Personally, I’m perfectly cool with non-commercial licenses.

        • NonFreeNet - May download images from nonfree Mapillary online service

Not amazing, but it’s ultimately just downloading images from a server. Whether that server runs proprietary or open-source software, you can’t trust it. Worst case scenario is that the service stops being offered or its development stagnates.

        • NonFreeAdd - Proposes to download a proprietary app (Mapillary) from Google Play Store to add photos to their service

Not a fan of that, but I assume it’s deep down in the OpenStreetMap editing tools, so I hope people who stumble upon it, already have a firm opinion of Mapillary.
