Canada is one of those countries that recognize “confession booth privilege”. As in, whatever a priest heard in a Catholic confession booth, including by another child diddling priest, they can claim legal protection and be exempt from testifying.

Which makes it really easy for the priests to form, say, a pedophilia ring that the law can’t touch! And the worst part is, according to Catholic canon, once you confess your sins, God himself scratches them off the docket and you won’t go to hell because of them! So they get to molest whoever they want and go to heaven!
