What’s your message here? I’m not clear on your point or how it relates to the post.

My point is that the alt-right tries repeatedly to divide progressives by telling them to throw some part of their movement under the bus, because they know that if they can get people to break with the ideas of social solidarity, the fascists can win cleanly.

It’s the same with the motherfuckers advocating “lgb, forget the t,” as if we in the queer rights movement don’t know it’s all of us they’re after, historically and today. As if we wouldn’t stand together anyway, no matter the circumstances.

My point in mentioning health care in the US is that it’s not about trying to help the working class for a large swath of voters. People were willing to give up a national health care program in order to keep institutionalized racism. Hell, the whole reason why the evangelicals joined the republican party and did so with such a huge effect is because the democrats whites to desegregate bible colleges. That’s the actual reason abortion became a political thing, by the way. When Roe was announced, the Southern Baptist Convention came out in favor of it, saying that it moved women’s rights forward.

Alt-right trolls today (and others, who I am sure are fine people) try to push the narrative that Democrats are sacrificing pro-labor legislation and instead concentrating on the people who don’t matter - like women, african americans, and the lgbt community. We all know it’s bullshit, because they never point to a potential piece of legislation and say “X would have passed if you weren’t trying to protect women’s healthcare.”

Saying Dems pay attention to social issues at the expense of other issues is a bullshit charge because a) the other issues are being pursued, b) rights are the issue, and c) you’re not going to gain votes by doing so - you’re going to lose them and lose congress even more.

Hmm… I took it to mean that the Republicans don’t care, and the Democrats don’t care while supporting diversity. We’re almost all part of the working class though, so by not caring about the working class as a whole, they’re still screwing everyone, including the marginalized groups they champion.
