The going rate at used car dealerships is 5000 and a friend of a friend has a car in reasonable condition for 1000. I doubt I could find the 1000 offer later on.

For reference a like ebike costs like 2000 without shipping and nobody sells them in my region.

I initially needed a car to get to a job that I don’t have anymore. But maybe it’ll be useful if I pick up a job outside the city again?

Also, maybe I could flip the car? since I need the money since i’m having job trouble atm.

Part 1 of this post if you’re interested.

If a car gets you the job you want, why not? But cars are mostly useful in a collective setting: they’re good for recup’ing free stuff (food, furniture, etc) and it’s much easier when you’re several people splitting the bills and learning about maintenance.

Car maintenance can get exhausting and pricey quickly in my experience.

Yeah like 1 car for like a family sounds much more affordable, and people could carpool in like the morning to work.

If you’re living on the countryside it’s possible you have no choice, but in most settings 2/3 vehicles for a dozen+ families is good (to account for one being broken at almost anytime :D). One car for a family can still have pretty expensive insurance/maintenance, unless your family is well-off.

It’s possible to acquire second-hand vehicles for 300-5000€ but even after it’s acquired i personally count each vehicle will cost about 100€/month maintenance… that’s definitely not affordable for many families living on minimum wage ;)
