Anyway what I wanted to highlight is that in addition of having a focus on STEM, I’d be even more impressed, if they’re having a vision of how to harness those brains after they finish with their formal education.

That’s the part with the government actively investing into strategic industries. That’s the real magic that allows China to see such rapid technological advancement. Development of technologies such as high speed rail, nuclear power, chip manufacturing, and so on, are being funded by the government with long term commitments.
