  • People like this honestly probably WOULD say that telling 5 year olds that LGBT people exist forcing the adult world onto kids. They see a gay person or a trans person and THEY themselves can only think of the sexual implications, they can’t POSSIBLY think of the humanity within that person.

  • I’m a step father. But I’ll address your first paragraph and the last. The tea parties and such doesn’t matter.

Children have a concept of gender as young as 2-4. They start to make their own decisions on gender around 4-7. Allowing them to be children is allowing them to make those decisions.

Cutting someone’s hair short and calling them he or letting it grow calling them she has no repercussions. If my kid came to me and said “being called she doesn’t feel good” then I wouldn’t call them that. When they were 7 they noticed I called their mom babe and got said. I call her baby doll now so she has her own nickname.

These are things that therapists and doctors are researching. At 5-12 gender affirming care is all social. Names hair cuts shirts pants skirts.

Also, talking to your children early in an age appropriate way so they understand their own bodies is the quickest way to reduce their risk of sexual assault… I agree let kids be kids but don’t put them at risk for self harm or assault because you have a certain idea of gender.

Gender affirming care can be as simple as the way your hair is cut and changing how people address you. Children start noticing their gender that young so yeah it’s possible that a kid that young should be having some sort of gender affirming care. But that usually is social. Hair cuts clothes and words that match what the kid feels. When they go into puberty it’s puberty blockers if they still feel this way. And it’s all with medical professionals from therapists to medical doctors helping parents navigate these decisions with their kid and monitoring them if puberty blockers do happen down the road.

Wrong. Children as young as 3 and 4 notice gender incongruities. 5 and 6 is when you start asking for your own clothing and hair choices. No one is giving puberty blockers unless they have somehow started puberty that young but to say that this kids aren’t socially transitioning is unfair. The Doctor wouldn’t support this take.

What does marriage have to do with gender affirming care?

Also do you think children on their own decide to get puberty blockers or HRT? You know it’s done after a lot of therapy and discussion with professionals right???

Gender affirming care for a 5 year old is a hair cut a trip to the mall and adults changing a few words in their everyday speech. OH NO THE HORROR

I agree but the fediverse is built on open source evangelists you aren’t going to get a lot of agreement. I use an iPhone an Apple Watch and AirPods and have a work issued Mac I like them all just fine
