Discoverability is the issue. It is one of the main reasons Signal sticks with phone numbers.
Everyone in my contact list is a potential Signal contact. That’s useful. Chat is still private.
If I want secret chats, I use Simplex.

Get it out of your head, son.
Also in the EU?
There’s an abundance of community resources on Raspberry pi so that helps.
For example: https://www.tomshardware.com/raspberry-pi
On every platform there’s a community that is eager to help you with any questions you have.
It’s not hard but be prepared to start over when your setup isn’t turning out how you want it. And that’s ok. When you break it, you just reinstall your stuff and start over. Wat helped me a lot is organising my resources by bookmarking them.
Networking is something that is overlooked in most tutorials. http://192.168.0.1/ (or some other iterations) will be something you need know by heart :-)
After a while you’ll be running all kind of servers, virtual machines, apps,… I still remember the kick I got from logging into my first selfhosted service. It’s magical.
You’ll see your setup grow after a while but don’t spend too much before you really know what you want to do. I bought a second hand mini pc with decent specs for 100 euros after 6 months and my playroom has extended tremendously.
You’ll get tempted to buy a NAS and that’s a rabbit hole on its own. But again. Take your time.
Good luck!
Mass transit is necessary here because the city has an old layout not designed for cars and so it wouldn’t be able to function if everyone had to drive.
Cities shouldn’t be designed for cars. They should be designed for people. I get it. They’ve added a tax and that’s inconvenient. I agree.
I live in a European city with a medieval layout. I’m happy they started banning cars. Our city is more liveable without than with cars.
Last year my wife gifted me a Raspberry pi 4 for Christmas. I had no programming background but there are ample resources to find on YouTube etc to help you get started.
Now, one year later I’m self hosting some services on ly own domain, have built a streaming box and have automated my house with home assistant.
So, if you’re up for it: https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/how-to-build-your-own-raspberry-pi-android-box/
I would suggest a Raspberry pi 5 if your SSD doesn’t have it’s own power source.

Ah yes, the privacy related indigenous tours of Lisbon. I’ll be selfhosting them.
I never knew. Wild story.
Apparently:
This is all new to me.
How can they do an independence campaign if they’re independent? Real question, not trolling. I’m not well informed on the geopolitics.
The Mozilla foundation does gift funds…
I’m still using my flat OnePlus usb-c cable that I received with my oneplus 3t in 2017.
Somehow the flat cables seem to last longer overall.
I’m from Belgium. We were occupied and freemasons were deported.
A few years ago they tried to make MP’s who were freemasons to make it public and lots of MP’s objected.
I know about the freemasons halls in my surroundings they are listed in the internet, indeed.
To be fair, I was kind of joking but I see how you don’t find it funny. I didn’t mean to troll.
:-) It was a genuine joke. It’s the forbidden song, right?
Now you get shitty USB c cables.
I suppose you’re based in the US? In most EU countries it’s all more secretive. But yeah, Freemasons got murdered during WWII so they aren’t to blame.
Yeah… You’re not speaking generally, are you? Because in most EU countries, rail ise is subsidised.
PipePipe on mobile works fine.
I was searching for the title of that movie a while ago. Thanks.
