Your own website. Most static hosting providers provides atleast 1 GB of free storage and allow images up to 10 MB (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare pages, GitHub pages), its a bit complicated to set up but its really nice to have a personal website. The only cost is getting a domain name.

My favorite are Alpine Linux and NixOS, I use Alpine Linux mainly for my home server and nixOS on my laptop. I really like the power they give you.
LSP and tree-sitter integrated, extremely accessible themes like Modus built-in, WEBP, SQLite, JSON support built in, project.el can use git repos directly and use-package is also now built in? Emacs has become a truly modern editor.
I would add ratpoison to the list of Window Managers (though I guess any simple c based Window Managers will work). It has no fat library dependencies, no fancy graphics and no window decorations.
It has a totally different experience then those other WMs, being prefix key based and manual tiling.
All are great choices even for modern computers.
