I’d like to hear what you all think about this question that I periodically ask as material and cultural conditions change.
Whatever knocks out US imperial capitalist power will be something they won’t see coming. They have done the reading that we have not, and the old underground Bolshevik thing ain’t gonna work again. Revolutionary thought and action should be a scientific and living process, not a dogmatic cult which worships specific people who were alive a hundred years ago.
Yeah, I agree with you. But what is the method nowadays? How do we fix this situation in time before climate change ends us?
I won’t pretend to know the answer to that, but I suspect that it involves actually listening to and working alongside Black- and First Nations-led orgs and communities doing various forms of mutual aid. We, communists or whatever we call each other, have to remain humble no matter how much reading we have done. Oppose book worship, you know?
Tell that to MAGA-“communists”
It better be 100 percent, because if I believed it was anything less than 100 percent, I would have offed myself by now.
The fate of humanity, the biosphere, Earth, and the universe is at stake.
This is true.
Losing is not an option
100%. Problem is: will it win? Will it be socialist revolution? Just popular revolution? Hijacked by liberals to ultimately just shuffle some tops? Maybe fascist “revolution”?
I think that it will be a long time of troubles, with possible several rounds or revolutions, civil wars and secessions. Ultimately hopefully socialism will win.
Heeey @TeezyZeezy, I’m back on Lemmy!
I’d say we will see a revolution in our lifetime. My local political organization representatives seem pretty sure that will be the case (Spain tho). As for the US’ specific material conditions, I’d say they should be even more conductive to a revolution, since there is more to gain with it, and more to lose without. Plenty of reasons to be hopeful! :)
Civil war? Yes.
Revolution? Highly unlikely.
A revolution would probably arise from either a third world war or (especially) a second civil war. Both those would likely take place by around the 2025-2030 timeframe.
Likely is that the US would disintegrate into several smaller countries.
