That funeral number is bullshit. You can’t dig a hole and throw somebody in for less than $15k. Baby deliver is also wildly off.

Really gives an idea of why- apart from the inevitable funeral, and healthcare (after avoiding even diagnosis up until issues compound into emergencies) most of these things are if anything, in decline in the west.

How many people plan for all these things nowadays? Paying $68k (USD no less as Canadian… hell) for pet care is wild, sounds like a great way to stay in poverty for anyone not earning a six digit income. And having kids, saving up for their college, hell, how many people nowadays think they’ll retire or ever own a home?

And $36k for a wedding? Maybe once upon a time in the west, bigger weddings might have made sense- nowadays with that price, may as well just kneecap the couple before the honeymoon to get the sentiment across. But really, unless I were a multimillionaire I wouldn’t get near such wasteful spending.

Cars are atupid expensive. Right now Americans are spending $500-700/mo on car payments for a 5 year loan. The vehicles themselves generally cost around $50k, and most people upgrade every couple years.

Assuming someone buys their first car at 20 and stop driving at 70 (easy numbers), buying a new car every 10 years, they’ve spent $200k (not including interest). If it’s a pickup truck, it’ll be much more than that.

Keep in mind, that’s just the price of the vehicle. You also have fuel, registration, insurance, and other maintenance that has to be performed regularly. On top of that, you also have to pay for the roads with your taxes.

I’d recommend this video for a great breakdown of the other costs.

So is this the total cost for two people? And is that the average lifetime earnings of two people also?

Millennials have moved on from killing luxuries and are now going for the real economy as a whole for some reason. Whom can fathom the Millennial brainpan?
