It’s the same over here in Belgium. Many people were too scared to turn on the heating. Some people I spoke to were living in a house that was around 10 degrees Celsius. CO poisoning deaths tripled last year due to people looking for alternative ways to warm their homes.

In the end the government gave money to everyone to compensate for the high costs. Which is insane, because we are once again using tax payer money to fund company profits. Covid and the Ukraine war really show how we see company profits as the most holy thing in the world.

Tbf we have seen capitalism fail during crisis time and time again. It’s just become slightly more apparent to the average person because it’s impacting more and more and is getting harder to hide the blame.

Right, the crises happen roughly once a decade, and during each crisis we see a wealth transfer to the top occurring. This happens because people and companies end up being unable to stay solvent and are forced to let go of their assets. At this point the big bourgeoisie swoop in to acquire these assets on the cheap. This in turn results in the rest of the population living on thinner margins and being in a worse position to weather the next crisis. We’re now coming to the culmination of all these crashes where a significant portion of the population is no longer able to weather the current crisis.
