youtube-dlbroken anyway?
last time I tried it it was so slow it would take a couple of hours to download a single 5-10 minute videoyoutube-dl is pretty much dead. Last I heard from them was that they want to keep Python 2 compatibility.
I think the main dev was busy for a while when yt changed the api and yt-dlp was forked. Youtube-dl seems to work now though, and I think works on some sites yt-dlp doesn’t.
Why,?
yt-dlp is a youtube-dl fork based on the now inactive youtube-dlc. The main focus of this project is adding new features and patches while also keeping up to date with the original project
It’s a live and updated project. If some video provider stops working they release a new version really quickly.
