It’s honestly very difficult to evaluate Shining Path or even find reliable information on them. Were they a ill-disciplined group of dog-hanging Maoists? Or did they, with a handful of impoverished people and fuck all resources, bring a government to its knees and nearly bring about revolution? I don’t know. I’ve actually never read Gonzalo and I will one day when I have the time, but I expect the answer as to the nature of SP will be in there. But I haven’t read it because people who have have told me it’s nonsense. And history shows that when you get ahead of the people and try to impose communism without wide support, it always ends badly even if the revolution succeeds.

Id probably say that no, they arent worth emulating or holding up as they where mostly just adventurist mao-ists who ended up killing more socialists and indiginous people than anything.

I dunno what great points you’re referring to, his “theory” is pretty much incoherent garbage the last time I checked (mixed with clumsy restatements of actual theory).

Agreed, I’ve been told how amazing his theory was by Maoists and I read it and just think…really? This stuff? It’s either just regurgitations of things others have said, or whacked out bullshit like “War and adventurism are good things actually.”
