“We have investigated ourselves and found no evidence of wrongdoing”
27th in the world in a country where buying politicians is legal… 😭
Yep
“corruption peaking in the 1830s and 1880s” 🤣🤣🤣
It absolutely saw a resurgence in the late 20th century
Well, one could argue, on a very Marxist basis, that a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie isn’t corrupt, but only working as intended, when politicians are literally bought by capital. After all this is the best way to ensure that only the bourgeoisie can rule, in a way that is proportional to their power in the capitalist system (ie. capital). In a sense a bourgeois system is only corrupt when members of the proletariat can buy public agents, since the proletariat isn’t supposed to have power in a bourgeois dictatorship.
So yes actually the US is one of the least corrupt bourgeois state in the world, but not for the reason liberals might think
Excellent point
This is an interesting point.
Of course, the “corruption perception index” is going to say that.
This is why I believe political correctness exists.
That index is created by asking mostly western businessmen how corrupt they feel places are.
