I opened the article because I wondered why. And then I read it and was like oh yeah same reason as always; privatization
It’s the same story in many cities; the government doesn’t handle both managing money AND providing housing. The government should stick to just managing the funds and let private industry manage the housing.
Or even better. Seize all for profit housing everywhere, and jail the CEOs of the hedge funds that owned them and freeze their assets. Simple.
That’s a dumb idea.
