I mean, if you want an alternative to GV this sounds like it’s it (which is good!), but I still need to make calls and send texts and use data outside of my home…

One could consider using a data-only SIM in that case. I’ve been trying out a couple. JMP is also in the process of offering data-only eSIM/SIM. Currently in testing.

There are many places with public WiFi. There are even ISPs that configure home routers by default to have a separate public access WiFi network for other home customers to use.

It differs from country to country, but in some you have very good WiFi coverage outside your home.
