I’ve been reading On the Origin of Species and was surprised that even Darwin had noted that species that evolved in segregated environments like New Zealand had less competition, so weren’t as fit. It’s amazing to see how much progress has been made to undo damage done by humans and create environments were species like this can thrive again.

Huia is the one I’d bring back.
Huia, I just looked it up but I don’t know anything about the bird.
Why would you bring back the huia?
When I was growing up in Dunedin NZ, our butter’s brand name was Huia, and there was a drawing of the bird on the wrapper. I read about it after you mentioned the huia, and I do like the concept of giving it as a gift. That’s cool.

I always struggled to imagine what dodos must have looked like irl until I saw these things. They almost look make-believe! Happy to see them reintroduced.
I think they’re mistaken, it’s a shark actually. I would know because I saw the trailer for the documentary in theaters (Meg 2)
