Someone here on Lemmy linked to this instance and while I was browsing it I found this funny animation about copying. What are people’s thoughts when it comes to this topic?

      So would copyleft licenses be better in your eyes? They still allow for copying and redistribution with the added benefit of any changes needing to be introduced back so that everyone benefits from them.

        Ya, without hard copyleft licenses, like AGPL, we’re in danger of a digital enclosure of the commons / “Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish” strategies. We can tell these licenses are working too because not many companies want to touch projects that use AGPL.

    I completely disagree with the video. Copying can be theft. If I made a game and someone brought one Copy from me then they copied it and started distributing that copy for free I’m left at a loss and now I’ve put in hundreds of hours of work and someone else has taken the reward from me without my permission or consent.

    I would stop making games.
