The Secret of Kells, which was breathtaking and deeply meaningful, lost the Oscar to Up and I was irritated, but, you know, Up, okay.
Song of the Sea, a beautiful wonderful selkie movie, however, lost to Big Hero 6, which I cannot abide.
These movies are Ghibli level, y’all. They’re doing their own thing, and they’re incredibly good at it.
I remember watching The Secret of Kells just on a whim and wow was I blown away by what a beautiful film it was. Every once in a while the Pangur Bán song pops into my head and makes me nostalgic about the film. Maya is right, y’all, these movies are incredibly good and must-watches.
