To celebrate August 24 Vladimir Zelensky took to Instagram to upload a series of portraits of commanders born in post-Soviet Ukraine.

Unsurprisingly one serviceman’s image, alongside his full name and credentials, was pictured wearing a Nazi insignia of the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division.

That unit of the SS recruited primarily Ukrainian collaborators, and has been accused of committing several massacres in Poland.

I don’t really watch/read BBC or CNN. Same for all the other mainstream mass media in <country name>. I’m more into soc-lib agenda and OSINT investigations.

Back to the topic. Russia has neo-Nazi combatants. If you refuse that, well, it’s up to you. I presume all the people who are following this conflict since 2014 have heard about Wagner group and Rusich (ДШРГ «Русич») battalion. What about NRU (Русское Народное Единство)?

I do not deny russia has neo-Nazi problem. But comparing it with a country like Ukraine which exists on the very basis of fascism and glorify nazification in every major sector including its military (such as Azov) would be a foolish thing to do.

exists on the very basis of fascism

Have you been checking the political arena for the last 20 years in Russia? It’s been closer and closer to totalitarian fascism each year. Except for they (the regime) is trying to make a façade of being multi-party and democratic. I still have comrades in jail for their political views and activities.

Do you really think it is a foolish thing to compare two states? Both of which have been persecuting my comradeship? Except for, in Ukraine, it wasn’t that harsh, comparing to Russia. Ukrainian government seems to used neo-Nazi to attack our folks. Just like FSB curated neo-Nazi in 2005-2010s. Yeah, I can compare those two.

Also, instead of nazification (and Bandera being a hero), we have a weird Russian Empire + USSR + Orthodoxy mix for quasi-ideology. Yeah, I know the first two are incompatible, that’s why it’s so laughable and sad it’s a real thing. Ah, and you haven’t seen the latest news from Russia, right? The phrases like “one president, one country, one victory” are appearing more and more.

I think I can compare, pal.

including its military (such as Azov)

ДШРГ “Русич”, Wagner Group, РНЕ. Something else?
