To celebrate August 24 Vladimir Zelensky took to Instagram to upload a series of portraits of commanders born in post-Soviet Ukraine.

Unsurprisingly one serviceman’s image, alongside his full name and credentials, was pictured wearing a Nazi insignia of the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division.

That unit of the SS recruited primarily Ukrainian collaborators, and has been accused of committing several massacres in Poland.

You’ve got to realize that most of their views are created by media and governments. The picture they are presented is one of a sad Ukraine that’s a victim of terror from Russia. I give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are misguided rather than evil.

I find myself explaining my views more to my surroundings. Yesterday I talked to family about how Zelensky banned opposition parties and undermines labor laws. They had no idea.

You and I actively seek other sides of this story to expand our views. They don’t. They see their news which has a certain political aim. It’s necessary we keep explaining ourselves otherwise the fascist sides in this war win, because they get the superstar treatment from the media. A lot of people are willing to listen, especially with the high inflation wrecking them.
