The excerpt you posted used the example of James Taylor (I think) dating dozens of women, and so some poor man out there who wanted a family and a “beautiful wife” now has that many fewer options. This is based on the misogynistic premise that women lose value after dating and are no longer “wife material” because they are no longer virgins. Those dozens of women that James Taylor dated are still able to marry after they stop dating him, so there is no polygyny in effect. I won’t get into the additional problematic usage of how these men need “beautiful” wives, but the men’s appearance and value is never in question.
