I want to match the cool kids from Hexbear, but I don’t have spare characters in my username.
Thx.
Preaching, that’s such an actually good ui idea that’ll have the net boon of chasing the less-committed chuds away. "Oh wah, they use pronouns."
“Oh wah, THEY use pronouns, certainly not like ME, I would never use any pronouns!”
Hexbear implements it by adding them at the end of your display name. You could include them in your display name here too, it’s just not mandatory.
this is what i did, i think i’d prefer if hexbear used braces instead of brackets, i’m using brackets to be consistent.
EDIT: weird, my profile name doesn’t show on the app i use :/
It doesn’t show on mine either (connect).
I can’t because of the character limit on display names, that doesn’t seem to be a problem with hexbear folks
they also have the instance listed next to the username, which is very useful to spot liberals without having to hover over the display name
Just add them in the display name.
I ran out of characters and I like my display name.
That’s probably the solution, though.
Unless Muad does a custom fork for lemmygrad to specifically add it, which I can’t imagine he would have the time to do or maintain it, then unfortunately it probably will never happen, him and Nutomic really don’t like it when usernames are too long in their eyes so I seriously doubt it would be added to the main code either.
Also, why are there even 2 comms for this? We already have !lemmygrad_court@lemmygrad.ml for this kind of stuff, that one gets a lot more traction + it’s not a comm owned by an abandoned 4 year old account
I think /c/lemmygrad_court is intended specifically for decision-making rather than meta discussion in general, but this community certainly needs a new mod
I’m not sure what you mean, there are plenty of posts that are basically just meta in people’s court, I guess I’m unsure what exactly you mean by meta discussion, what meta discussion of the site wouldn’t basically revolve around administrative decisions?
there are, but the community description is “a community for Lemmygrad users and admins to discuss administrative issues in a more transparent manner” (e.g. removing communities, changing mods, discussing moderation policy), and pronoun tags aren’t related to administration
I really liked how it was implemented in the past. Not as a part of the username but as a “badge”. Shame it is now gone, having it as part of the username is worse.
yeah, one of the sacrifices they had to make to be able to take in code from upstream lemmy unfortunately, maybe one day they’ll add in flairs like on reddit, and then Hexbear could use that instead of the jank solution they have to where you can’t even change your display name because it appends to the end of your username.
