The idea of profiting off of nothing but ownership is deeply rooted since it forms the foundation of politics and economy almost all countries in the world right now. Renters paying rent to the landlord is to some extent as natural as gravity for some reason. No one knows or cares how it came to be like this and it’s seen as something that you must just live with.

I think that the problem is that people who don’t rent mostly own property. That’s why they have internalized all kinds of reasons why the system is very fair and good. It won’t be easy, but ofc I am happy for hashtag suggestions!
