Toilet is the correct spelling, toliet isn’t an English word. As for tips for remembering, I guess just try to keep in mind that the second syllable is just “et.” Ooooorrrr, you can think of this silly little gem: when I ate some bad oysters, I really had to toil to let them all out <3
There is probably a memory trick involving how toi is pronounced toy. Toylet, toilet. Something to do with toys letting go of their bowels?
