Why did Ambessa side with Victor though? Surely she could see he was going to take over the whole world with his robots, did she think herself exempt? That they wouldn’t turn on her? That she would live forever in a world of robots?

    Ambessa’s entire plot is incoherent

Why did Singed get himself caught? To lure Warwick to the prison? Then what? Was his plan actually to have it recognize Jinx and calm down? No, because he remarks he never expected that. So his plan was just to what? Die? It only worked out for him because of incredible plot contrivance.

The motivations of the characters is all gibberish. bad people do suicidally stupid things and are rewarded for it because it’s a grimdark world where seemingly the rules of the universe is that nothing good can ever happen. It’s like the characters realize they are in a grimdark world. Big picture things make sense when you describe them in broad strokes, but the particulars involved are often incoherent and contradictory and inconsistent.

Edit: An example of this is the entire gas plotline in S2. Ok so Caitlin discovers there’s a bunch of pollutants from both cities, and they get vented into off chambers and presumable stored? She then begins using this in her quest for revenge and to find Jinx, using toxic chemicals on the people of Zaun. Vi helps her do this. This is never discussed between the two of them, why is Vi ok with gassing Zaun as a cop? Wtf? She grew up down here is she the biggest traitor gusano of all time or what.

Then we get on to the crime ring that gets destroyed by the “gray” the ‘gas monster’. The freaky evil gremlin mob boss orders his sniveling accountant underling into the place to scout it out - where he is attacked by the “gray” the gas monster. Which we have established is Piltover cops in hextech and gas masks.

But then later we see that same guy in that same outfit tied to a giant propeller thingy underground in a gas vent with Jinx graffiti everywhere, implying that Jinx was the one who kidnapped him and tied him up during her gas revenge plot. ??? So the Piltover cops as the gray abducted this guy, but then they also rescue him later from Jinx who tied him up? Was there a time jump here and it’s implying she tied him up for being a rat? This is what I’m talking about with incoherent particulars.

Knowing a bit of Singed lore and his role with Noxus, to me he wanted to show off his creation, a killing machine that he could control, to Noxus to get funds. Also, Warwick attacked the Piltover police instead of attacking Noxus forces, so as not to anger Ambessa.

Devil’s bargain for power. Her whole deal is the pursuit of power at any cost and that this power will always protect her. But in this specific case it is the pursuit of power that is her undoing, I’m ok with that. I’m also ok with fascists doing things that aren’t entirely rational on the basis of fascists not being entirely rational to begin with.

Pretty sure he just wanted to lure the beast there and have it destroy everything, dude is just after nihilistic destruction.

The only character I sincerely do not understand is the alt-dimension thorn chains woman. But I suspect that’s something actual League players would understand more. Black Rose or something? I don’t know I don’t remember very well.

dude is just after nihilistic destruction.

He very clearly is not. His motive is to bring back his daughter, and he has no moral scruples in doing so. That doesn’t mean he wants to nihilistically destroy things and go out in a suicide, that’s the opposite of his plan

Oh yeah that’s right he’s the daughter dude. I’m misremembering.

Then sure, that whole prison thing doesn’t make sense.

Also yeah, the entire black rose / le blanc plotline was definitely a head scratcher. Why did Mel use them to defeat her mom but then go back and betray them to free her mom who then died anyway. Like wtf was that, felt like a bunch of unearned asspulls and pseudo-twists

They showed that Black Rose can posses/assume an identity to infiltrate/spy. I think they wanted Ambessa for that and Mel didn’t let them use for their schemes.

I don’t know what it was. To me it was some “magic mystics hidden in the shadows pulling all the levers of everything” thing like Dune’s Bene Gesserit but then it just felt like it was “AND THEY WERE DEFEATED” during the ending battle by the magic of pure willpower. Just shouldn’t have been in the story at all.
