Lesbians see this girl with gun and forget she’s a fucking cop
A rich failfaughter nepo baby cop who uses the gas of the city as a chemical weapon on the impoverished civilian under city
jinx did nothing wrong.
She killed Silco, which was a major error in retrospect. The underground went to absolute shit when he was gone
I’m not beating the allegations unfortunately
In my defense the show is so incoherent I absorbed none of the plot
Yeah the plot makes absolutely zero sense, it’s like ChatGPT wrote it
I thought it was pretty coherent?
Season 1
Underworld exists. Overworld exists. Overworld is lib land exploiting underworld. Overworld gets scratched and goes fascist. Underworld loses primary revolutionary leader who was doing questionable stuff but because he felt he had to.
Season 2
Overworld goes even more fascist. Also spiritual magic I wanna end the world dude exists and he’s even worse than fascists.
Underworld revolutionary energy continues despite loss of leadership. Movement latches onto Jynx as symbol of revolution.
Everyone unites to fight fascism.
Both fascists get defeated.
Underworld revolution storyline is never concluded.
Overworld returns to the same liberal place it was.
I felt largely unsatisfied with this.
I think those were the main story beats?
Why did Ambessa side with Victor though? Surely she could see he was going to take over the whole world with his robots, did she think herself exempt? That they wouldn’t turn on her? That she would live forever in a world of robots?
Ambessa’s entire plot is incoherent
Why did Singed get himself caught? To lure Warwick to the prison? Then what? Was his plan actually to have it recognize Jinx and calm down? No, because he remarks he never expected that. So his plan was just to what? Die? It only worked out for him because of incredible plot contrivance.
The motivations of the characters is all gibberish. bad people do suicidally stupid things and are rewarded for it because it’s a grimdark world where seemingly the rules of the universe is that nothing good can ever happen. It’s like the characters realize they are in a grimdark world. Big picture things make sense when you describe them in broad strokes, but the particulars involved are often incoherent and contradictory and inconsistent.
Edit: An example of this is the entire gas plotline in S2. Ok so Caitlin discovers there’s a bunch of pollutants from both cities, and they get vented into off chambers and presumable stored? She then begins using this in her quest for revenge and to find Jinx, using toxic chemicals on the people of Zaun. Vi helps her do this. This is never discussed between the two of them, why is Vi ok with gassing Zaun as a cop? Wtf? She grew up down here is she the biggest traitor gusano of all time or what.
Then we get on to the crime ring that gets destroyed by the “gray” the ‘gas monster’. The freaky evil gremlin mob boss orders his sniveling accountant underling into the place to scout it out - where he is attacked by the “gray” the gas monster. Which we have established is Piltover cops in hextech and gas masks.
But then later we see that same guy in that same outfit tied to a giant propeller thingy underground in a gas vent with Jinx graffiti everywhere, implying that Jinx was the one who kidnapped him and tied him up during her gas revenge plot. ??? So the Piltover cops as the gray abducted this guy, but then they also rescue him later from Jinx who tied him up? Was there a time jump here and it’s implying she tied him up for being a rat? This is what I’m talking about with incoherent particulars.
Why did Singed get himself caught? To lure Warwick to the prison? Then what? Was his plan actually to have it recognize Jinx and calm down? No, because he remarks he never expected that. So his plan was just to what? Die? It only worked out for him because of incredible plot contrivance.
Knowing a bit of Singed lore and his role with Noxus, to me he wanted to show off his creation, a killing machine that he could control, to Noxus to get funds. Also, Warwick attacked the Piltover police instead of attacking Noxus forces, so as not to anger Ambessa.
Why did Ambessa side with Victor though? Surely she could see he was going to take over the whole world with his robots, did she think herself exempt? That they wouldn’t turn on her? That she would live forever in a world of robots?
Devil’s bargain for power. Her whole deal is the pursuit of power at any cost and that this power will always protect her. But in this specific case it is the pursuit of power that is her undoing, I’m ok with that. I’m also ok with fascists doing things that aren’t entirely rational on the basis of fascists not being entirely rational to begin with.
Why did Singed get himself caught? To lure Warwick to the prison? Then what? Was his plan actually to have it recognize Jinx and calm down? No, because he remarks he never expected that. So his plan was just to what? Die? It only worked out for him because of incredible plot contrivance.
Pretty sure he just wanted to lure the beast there and have it destroy everything, dude is just after nihilistic destruction.
The only character I sincerely do not understand is the alt-dimension thorn chains woman. But I suspect that’s something actual League players would understand more. Black Rose or something? I don’t know I don’t remember very well.
dude is just after nihilistic destruction.
He very clearly is not. His motive is to bring back his daughter, and he has no moral scruples in doing so. That doesn’t mean he wants to nihilistically destroy things and go out in a suicide, that’s the opposite of his plan
Oh yeah that’s right he’s the daughter dude. I’m misremembering.
Then sure, that whole prison thing doesn’t make sense.
Also yeah, the entire black rose / le blanc plotline was definitely a head scratcher. Why did Mel use them to defeat her mom but then go back and betray them to free her mom who then died anyway. Like wtf was that, felt like a bunch of unearned asspulls and pseudo-twists
Part of being a bi-guy is fighting over sword girls with lesbians.
That final battle scene in Arcane was so dogshit though if you know anything about battle tactics or strategy holy fuck it was enraging.
Yeah let’s just have a handful of people with guns stand at the entrance on the ground to fight the invaders with swords. Instead of placing them up along the elevated shooting gallery along the sides.
Or ya know Vi, who has a hex tech weapon, doing literally nothing the entire time except rescuing one rando. Great job Vi.
Yeah let’s just use this slow as fuck civilian transporter as a rail gun but use it to launch empty shipping containers instead of explosives or even small, dense projectiles with penetration power. The containers were doing jack shit against the Noxian battleships even though they were presumably going hypersonic speeds. Literally using ammo with crumple zones to minimize their impact power lmao.
Or how about that dropped plotline about the poison gas of the city that you control? Maybe vent that onto the opposing invading army? Nope lmao that’s only for crushing rebels in the undercity.
Finally, apparently the entire thing was pointless entirely, because Viktor could just walk on in to the hexcore and only Jayce was there to try and stop him. One guy deactivating the core by himself, without even any techs there to help. You realize the entire battle was for this thing and you can just walk in a backdoor offscreen by yourself and 1v1 Jayce I guess. Why is this place not locked the fuck down and barricaded and reinforced??!?
EDIT: Oh wait! They tried to use the gas in a single bomb cannister and had a side-character do his heroic last stand to try and ignite it and… nothing. It was sabotaged and does nothing. This is grimdark, fuck you for trying to be heroic. You will die for nothing and you will like it mr. side character fish cop. Jinx btw BY HERSELF was venting poisonous gases all over Piltover as a prank in her off time. The entire city of Piltover and Zaun combined couldn’t set up some fucking vents and traps?
Vi was stuck trying to exit vim
Call me old school, but Motoko had me at ‘entering autistic mode’.
Apparently that was a quirk of translation. Autism in Japanese was known as “withdrawn syndrome” and they intended it for more to be “withdrawn mode”
Seems accurate to me?
I’m autistic, my quality of life would greatly improve if i had a button that both actually functioned to, and outwardly indicated to others ‘i am shutting off most external stimuli so as to focus on a very complex task’, and using this ‘mode’ occassionally/moderately was widely socially acceptable.
That would have allowed me to avoid a lot of autistic burnout episodes in my life.
Instead, I just have to physically, literally withdraw from basically everything, to an enviornment I control and makes no demands of me.
The best way that I can describe being autistic to a neurotypical is: imagine all or most of the subconscious decision making processes in your mind are actually extremely, explicitly conscious thought processes.
Something like how the DeepSeek LLM actually shows you its entire thought process for attempting to understand and answer a question.
Combine that with high functioning autistics seemingly having heightened external senses, hearing sounds that NTs often don’t, noticing visual patterns and details that NTs often don’t…
… And yeah, calling a ‘mode’ where you just shut down most external stimuli, to focus on a complex internal monologue… autistic seems like the correct word to use.
It’s true
Samus Aran’s animations in Metroid Dread do the same to me
