I wish I understood why they keep pointing to tiananmen square; it only proves that China is on par with the American government when it comes to brutal repression; but it’s one Chinese example compared to the hundreds of American examples that we’re allowed to know about and even then the story of tiananmen that Americans know about is just as propagandized as the stories of American atrocities.

They showed us tankman in school and cut it off before the tank tried to move around the guy and the teacher was like ‘that’s all the footage that was able to be recovered’

can’t imagine the horrors that’d be unleashed if a mob of far-left student rioters threw molotov cocktails at the US national guard, hijacked their guns and tanks, and went on late night killing sprees where they publicly lynched and mutilated and burned alive the soldiers.

when the protests started and were largely peaceful for over a month, there was no PLA. when the PLA was deployed as riots grew, they were victims of guerrilla war tactics for 2 weeks before deciding to clear the square. (not saying i think this was the best move, just contextualizing things)

can you imagine if tank man were american? he’d be run over or shot at in a heartbeat. if he were white, maybe he’d be lucky enough to be maimed or sedated instead of killed

insane how americans will mention china censoring the massacre, as if the full story isn’t deliberately buried in google searches, and completely erased in our mainstream media. great free flow of information you got there

also the protestors/rioters were genuine communists fighting some liberal-capitalist market reforms under deng. after the protests, the CPC largely listened and stopped the reforms (resuming in a few years, but to a much lesser extent). call it appeasement out of fear or whatever, but the US congress would never socialize its economy because of a workers’ revolt

same here. that’s one of the reasons why i want to emigrate; i hate being complicit with so much violence and suffering across the entire world.
