A) Whatever numbers they are claiming at any given time, you can always be sure they’re lying. Inflation (at least the part relevant to the average person) is higher than they admit, i know, i see it in the shops every week. I see it on my utilities bill at the end of every month.
B) “More than expected” by who? Only by people who either lie to themselves or who believe the propaganda put out by German and EU authorities to hide how much they’ve fucked us. There is no rational reason to expect prices not to skyrocket with the suicidal economic and foreign policy that Germany has.
It’s also worth noting that inflation is a measure of the rate at which prices are increasing, and cost of living is cumulative inflation over time. People care about is their overall cost of living. What really matters is the rate of salary growth compared to the rate of inflation.
