Anyone got a good news site regarding news from and about China?

I don’t doubt the correctness of this author; that fucking song is probably going to destroy the CCP by the end of this week!

    However …

Tong Ying-kit, who had the slogan emblazoned on a flag affixed to his motorcycle as he rode toward a phalanx of police officers during a mass demonstration.

    omits what the nyt wrote

drove a motorcycle into police officers

    which omits what cgtn wrote

caused serious injuries to three police officers.

Not interested in discussing this case specifically or if China is superevil or superbased, but if you have a good news site, let me know.

March of the Volunteers? It hasn’t been censored, the lyrics got changed for like two years in the 70s, but they were changed back and have remained the same since.

Liberals are as susceptible to culture war bullshit as conservatives, hence, they think music is politics lol

Can a song endanger the national security of China and threaten to subvert the power of the ruling Communist Party?

      No lol

Everything is politics, of one sort or another, unless you’re a proper hermit. Which I guess could be possible.

What’s not then? Music? Something that communicates feelings and ideas is not related to how we organize power in our societies? Seems naive to me.

Exactly, has nothing to do with liberalism. The soviet union under stalin literally felt threatened by a black square.

The USSR was not particularly liberal, the people had very few rights. And tbf, that’s a pretty scary black square, and Stalin was afraid of a lot of things. So, I can see it.

Creating a distraction is political and using a distraction is political.

The distraction, itself, doesn’t have to be political.

And culture war is not politics.
