The USSR was not particularly liberal, the people had very few rights. And tbf, that’s a pretty scary black square, and Stalin was afraid of a lot of things. So, I can see it.
Culture war is a distraction from politics.
Distractions from politics are extremely political.
Creating a distraction is political and using a distraction is political.
The distraction, itself, doesn’t have to be political.
And culture war is not politics.
