my Palestinian parent has essentially agreed to this sentiment word for word

I am also from west Asia and I know many people from there who do also believe this. They do not know anything about contemporary history of West Asia, all they know is what westerners told them, so they’ve learned to hate themselves and hate their own culture and worship westerners instead.

If they actually spent time reading some history they’d realize that West Asia has been more peaceful compared to Europe in majority of history and that majority of conflict in West Asia now is due to direct involvement of westerners not because we are genetically predisposed to be violent psychopaths.

It’s crazy how the perception of how the general population of the “3rd world”/Global South/non-West views America & Friends changes as you learn more, going from:

      1. They love us! Duh!
      2. They hate us. They’re jealous of our freedom!
      3. They hate us. And for good reason.
      4. Some of them hate us, for various reasons. But a lot have drank our kool-aid, too.

Internalized racism is a hell of a thing. I guess that’s what some of the most expensive and sustained propaganda campaign in history will buy.
