Warner is chairman of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee and a former venture capitalist who bet big on telecom in the 1980s and 90s, making him uniquely qualified to talk about threats to U.S. communications infrastructure.
“This man has a lot of money so he’s an expert”
wtyp
bet big on telecomm during its deregulation aka the most obvious asshole in the world.
you called?
I did. You’re beautiful and I respect you.
Our noble zero day back doors to illegally spy on our citizens.
Their dastardly code named Hax0rs exposing us.
ffs I was just listening to a couple of phone calls archived from a hacker crew who called the feds to talk shit and then tapped the fed phones to listen to them cry about it to the NSA. Hackers have been treating the US phone system like a phreakin playground for decades. But oh noes the scary chinese.
Oh yeah, people have warned about all these backdoors ultimately being used by everyone and their dog for a long time.
I hate the voice that this is written in. “corporate asshole at an overpriced Silicon Valley restaurant”
that’s apparently his entire career, yes

Security comes at the cost of operational efficiency.
One of the goals of wikileaks was to punish every cut corner of the state apparatus as to force them to increase security and therefore reduce efficiency (ie in a very indirect way the more secure the network the less bombs they can drop on children).
Since the US refuses to invest in anything other than bombs and has no shame about it’s many warcrimes being revealed they basically called this bluff leading to any opposing state with competent infosec being able to go wild with it.
Oh no, who could have seen this coming?
Warner told the Post that the infiltration wasn’t directly related to the U.S. elections on Nov. 5, noting that hackers breached the system “months earlier,” and in some cases more than a year ago, though that logic is a bit confusing.
“We’re sure this was about election interference, we just aren’t sure how yet, despite all signs to the contrary”
History began in <Year of last democrat electoral loss> therefore we are confused as to how it is possible for something to have occurred before then.
Hackers this, privacy that. Me? I just want the warez.
