Summary

The FBI reported two instances of fake videos using its name and insignia to spread misinformation about the 2024 presidential election.

Likely created by a Russian disinformation group, these fabricated videos falsely claim that prison officials in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona rigged inmate voting in coordination with a political party.

Another fake video, designed to resemble CBS News, falsely advised remote voting due to a terror threat—a claim the FBI denied.

Researchers say this disinformation group has a history of impersonating news outlets and government entities to sow distrust in U.S. elections.

Really, that’s weird because I just saw the same video but they said to invest in shekels.

    I’m not from the US

But who over there is following election advice from the fucking FBI

Aren’t they very disliked across the political spectrum?

Conservatives don’t like the FBI because “feds”.

Liberals… non-Conservatives don’t like the FBI because of the whole “reopening the case against Hilary” right before the 2016 Election and dicking around with the Trump investigation.

Also, some people still have an issue with that little bit of sending death threats to MLK Jr or… gestures at J. Edgar Hoover.

This isn’t election advice, it’s false claims that crimes are happening. Generally the police are in charge of investigating crimes.

Not election advice, they allege that one party committed election crimes using the FBI as a voice of authority.

It’s so infuriating that we just sit here and get slapped around by Russia and just say “pile on more sanctions” as if that is stopping anything…

Yeah yeah whataboutism me on our influence elsewhere, I’d say we deserve the reaction others give to us as well, they would have that right.

Is it possible this is a case of Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man, given the history of the FBI (and other U.S. intelligence agencies)?
