I’ve seen similar reports. They are said to have the highest proportion of military aged men in their population between now and the early 2030’s before a big downwards population-trend for the next several generations as a result of the ol’ limited children policies. After that it’s suspected their resources will be too constrained caring for a ballooning elderly population.

That’s not the only way to interpret that phrase. A lot of people panic at the thought of another Trump presidency because they think of all of the stuff he may accomplish/destroy while regularly forgetting how stupid and incompetent he really is. Practically 90% of everything he says is a lie, but both his fans and his opponents treat every word he says with literal intent. -Any real threat he’s posed has and always will stem from the people he surrounds himself with.

There’s also a non-financial cost to keeping up with beauty standards via plastic surgery. Madonna is a perfect example. As soon as someone gets a facelift the ageing-clock speeds up and repeated lifts have diminishing returns until a person is left with an unexpressive piece of pleather for a face. Michael Jackson’s nose was also a good example of such issues.

Nobody referred to videos as “VHS” unless they were explicitly trying to distinguish the medium from betamax. They just called them “videos” and “tapes” or “videotape.”

You might be right. It’s a memory from 5-6 years ago and when I did some further digging in response to your comment, I couldn’t find any news stories that explained the exact reason why the company halted work but I did get a major detail wrong in finding that it was a Spanish company and that they were already on the brink of insolvency.
My state has been building a new interstate highway in segments for the last 1.5 decades and for the segment nearest me the main construction contract was awarded to a major french company. The french company thought the project was an upfront full payout, but the state had it set up as a piecemeal payment system based on hitting specific objectives. Upon finding this out the company halted all work and abandoned the job until the state took over the project 18 months later.
This reminds me of that.
