Come general election day, I vote straight D. For the races I don’t know, I use the Austin Chronicle’s endorsement list.

We have open primaries. You don’t have to register Republican.
That being said, I’m registered independent. It’s none of anyone’s business that I’m a social Democrat.
I did that in 2000 assuming that I had to and I never changed it or, honestly, looked into if I had to.
Totally get it. And honestly in Texas it doesn’t matter so it’s not worth changing.
Party registration doesn’t always change. Many wives, for example, could be in danger for doing that if they have a MAGA husband.
Votes are secret though. So we’ll see.
