The whole problem with that monument is that it is “compatible with Canadian values”, where Canadian values as defined by Canada’s actions post ww2 were to honour nazis and welcome them into the country with open arms. Canada needs to disavow its values on this subject, in other words not honour nazis.
Compatible with Canadian values? So they’ll remove all the non Nazis then
They’re gonna add little swastikas next to their names, right?
I’m hoping that the nazis’ names stay. It will help discredit the monument as a whole.
just have to put little swastikas next to them so that people know exactly who these victims of communism actually are
If I lived in Ottawa I’d be tempted to do unauthorized tour guide work at the monument. Pretending to do the whole cheery guide thing and going into the specific history of some notorious names. No charge of course. It would be my honour and privilege to do such work for free.
Are the names on metal plaques or something? If we could get a stamp made, you could indent the metal pretty quickly and permanently, albeit loudly
:)
You are far more optimistic than I am. Here’s how I see it: 20 years from now that’s why it’s celebrated.
Pretty much, though this is if the regime (the “tripartisan” Klanadian regime) lasts that long.
Looks like a Canadian heritage moment
tbh just add all nazi names to the memorial and add balloons and confetti
