He was just talking about how the texts were real And how he didn’t like Justin Roiland over that anymore or whatever. Yep, creepy texts, shitty dude. I guess he was bad like that just in general to other staff.

But this meme is about him in prison and he ain’t going there anymore is my point.

Hopefully they can find someone who can keep the spirit of the show alive, then. I’d hate to see it go. It was such a unique show.

So guilty until proven innocent? I shouldn’t have to tell you how backwards and nonsensical that is. What evidence that they are fake are you looking for exactly? How is that supposed to be proven? The point is that it can’t be proven either way. So maybe don’t make any career-ending assumptions based off of only that.

I honestly can not believe people are disagreeing with me. Yeah he’s a creep but that doesn’t justify making such a life changing assumption based off of that. Slogans have meaning you know. You should read it and figure out what it means. This may not be a court of law but that doesn’t justify this whatsoever. Instead of making fun of a phrase I said, you should argue about the actual fucking topic.

Its just a phrase, I never implied this has anything to do with law. “Guilty” and “innocent” are not purely legal terms. You said you can assume they are real. If you are going to assume anything, you should have evidence. I’m not assuming anything, I don’t need evidence. You are assuming they are real, you need evidence. There is no evidence either way, as I have already said, and you ignored. So your assumption is baseless. I can’t break it down any further for you. My original argument was that the messages could be fake, yes. But that doesn’t mean I have to provide evidence. If there was evidence I wouldn’t say “could”. I was literally saying I don’t know, and it is impossible to know. But its stupid to assume its real when you can’t possibly know, just based off of your views of him in general.

    In case anyone is unfamiliar:

    https://mashable.com/article/rick-and-morty-season-7-justin-roiland-replacement

‘Rick and Morty’ is recasting Justin Roiland for Season 7

Justin Roiland’s term as the titular offbeat pairing of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith is truly over, with the show officially on the hunt for a new replacement voice actor(opens in a new tab). The co-creator and star of Adult Swim phenom Rick and Morty was booted from the show earlier this year, following the public unveiling of felony domestic violence charges and a widespread denouncement of inappropriate and abusive behavior among cast and crew. On Jan. 24, the show announced Roiland’s departure and reassured fans that the show would continue. The charges against Roiland have since been dismissed. <(at least this one has, good legal ass covering mashable lmao)

Gotta admit. When looking at the co creators of Rick and Morty I wouldn’t have thought Roiland would be the problematic one.

From what I can tell Dan Harmon just has a lot of personal issues that sometimes eeks out in his attitude towards others. Even with his problems he never seemed like he’d be the kind to actually do something awful towards others and to do it intentionally

Rooland’s voices he does aren’t even unique imo. I’m positive there are plenty of other funny people who could cover any role he has played. Shit I can do all his famous characters and I’m an IT guy. This dude ain’t special, he just had connections.

Roiland isn’t just the voices though. Replacing voices with copycats has never been the issue. Roilands writing and ideas is what makes the show. I’m not confident in the upcoming seasons at all. They’re off to a terrible start with the new voice actor imo, terrible choice.

I don’t want to sound like a “my way or the highway” guy, but the whole point of the Fediverse is that different instances have different rulesets and, by consequence, different users behaviors. There’s nothing wrong in looking for a place that suits your needs.
For example, places like beehaw.org have stricter moderation rules and mild interactions, with less to no shitposting at all, so if that’s what you’re into might be good for you to take a look.

I get it, but the fediverse is confusing. It’s actually difficult to only see local content, or to know what instance to be on for what content. I think there needs to be some quality of life features to make it clear on how to navigate, and filter etc.

Yeah, it might be confusing at first, like everything when it’s at their beginning and this secondary aspect will be fixed over time.
In the meanwhile the “quality of life feature” it’s still asking around about any subject in their respective communities: go and make friends <3

I kind of agree with the sentiment from the other answers. In the last weeks I’ve seen quite a few comments made by users, threatening to leave the platform because of one thing or the other. I want to be clear that I think everyone should be welcome here, and should feel there is a place for them as well. However, I am under the impression that most of these people commenting this are not really generating content themselves.

I think it’s important to realize that lemmy is in a growing stage, with growing pains. The content is as good as we, the community, make it. If you feel disenfranchised, it is certainly your right to respectfully complain, but I think it would be even more valuable to create a community that reflects your needs, and to create content that will please you and people with interests aligned with yours.

        I agree.

If someone is looking for the canned this-is-what-the-headline-said-so-it-is-the-truth-and-anything-that-challenges-that-is-edgy then go to one of the other multitude of social media sites that have been decimated by that exact mentality.

For me, Lemmy is a place where ideas can be discussed, and not automatically downvoted into oblivion because it may challenge the conventional wisdom, and that’s what Reddit used to be too.

Edit: Just to be clear, this is to say nothing about the Justin Roiland debacle, just the sentiment of Lemmy.
