Yeah that would make sense if there weren’t other options. iPhones are basically the poster child for conspicuous consumption. They’re expensive, flashy, objectively worse than the competition, and have a shadier production chain historically than other brands. Even using an old iPhone is an option that doesn’t contribute to issues caused by global capitalism. These products when properly cared for could last a life time and yet…

We cant all own a Fairphone and credit where credit is due, Privacy wise apple seem to be the most professional big corp around.

Privacy is always something to consider for those involved in activism.

Well i can, and i kinda want to. Though my current phone is far from dead and i tend to make em last.

But if every anti capitalist is gonna need one then production could never keep up. Because people genuinely need a phone for participating in society they cant wait months when their current one breaks.

It would be a clear incentive for fairphone to expand production and as we all know greed corrupts.

We need more corporations like fairphone.

They are for sale so there is zero excuse not to buy one instead of an iphone until they run out.

Create demand and production will happen. Something something capitalism.

espousing capitalist principles to fight capitalism while criticizing someone for engaging in capitalism simply because you dislike/disapprove of their choice of smartphone rings a bit disingenuous to me.

a single choice by a single person isn’t really “fighting capitalism” in any meaningful way, certainly not by doing anything more than making a symbolic gesture. Fairphones do much more to support user privacy, open-source software, the right to repair, and consumer choice than anything else.

I am still a big supported of fair phone btw. I am just not gonna buy a new phone if the current one works fine. If it breaks i will wage my needs and options.

All alternatives are capitalist too. Even the Fairphone. If anyone thinks different they might want to consider to look up what capitalism means.

Security through obscurity is no security at all. You’ve fallen for the marketing if you think apple cares about your privacy any more than any other big tech company.

You’re right! And the reason why is because they have to compete in a public competition!

Me dreaming off a world where big corps like apple, google and Microsoft are split up into smaller public owned entities because i think capitalism has outgrown its benefit isn’t at odds with me really liking and enjoying some of their products.

What’s up with that question lol, non-meat food products are considered vegan yes. Not everyone who is vegan is so because they wanna boycot meat industry profits. Some people do a halal diet because there allergic to pork. That doesn’t make them Muslim. I do hate the fact that we’re systematicly mass murdering animals but i am not ashamed that meat is a considerable part of my diet. If every human could just nudge themselves into being perfect and logical of will and needs we would have been living in eden by now.

also if i am gonna have to stop partaking in any part of society that depends on something i find problematic i might as well go for my age old fantasy of going minecraft irl, living in the woods… and realistic die soon for the benefit of none and harm for my family. The school system didn’t exactly prepare us for survival, neither will i convince my family to join.

Thats what a fake communist would say to be honest. Real communists dont use phones made by american companies. You just play make believe if you use a product made by americans. Why not buy a cheap chinese phone? Or a nice fairphone?

So many options, but you would have to give up your capitalistic luxuries.
