No. A Union is a body of Workers that protect jobs. They are useful for ensuring better worker rights within Capitalism, but are not interested in Revolutionary theory and praxis. The Nordic Countries are highly unionized and highly Capitalist, they are no closer to Socialism or Communism.

Unions are not bad, but they are not the necessary body for achieving emancipation of the Proletariat.

So we should just start in the middle with this organization that will turn over the government, but that can’t originate from a union?

Historically, Revolutionary Parties have not originated from Unions. Anarcho-Syndicalism gained steam at one point, but fizzled out before enacting lasting change.

Unions are designed from the ground-up to bargain with Capitalists, not to sieze their power. Revolutionary Parties are designed from the get-go to overthrow and replace the current State.

I think being in an extreme capitalist society like ours requires Unions and any sort of organization that unites working people to even be able to move towards socialism -> communism. Without these orgs shoeing the strength of solidarity we would each be isolated in our own hopeless individualism.

How familiar are you with Revolutionary Marxist Theory? Why do you believe Unions are necessary for achieving Socialism, specificially?

and any sort of organization that unites working people and shows them the strength of solidarity

Dont leave this out, thats important too. Because it means it doesnt have to be a union. Anything and everything that shows people we are stronger supporting each other than competing with each other is good and necessary.

Again, I ask, how familiar are you with Revolutionary Marxist Theory? The nature and direction matters just as much, otherwise your spearhead is blunt and dulled.

Not very, but again I wasn’t expecting someone to climb all the way up my ass for posting raptor pictures. But by all means let good be the enemy of perfection.

I wasn’t getting up your ass, I even upvoted your original comment. We are, however, on a Marxist comm, so I just wanted to point out that Unions are good, but not quite the danger to Capitalists your meme implied it was.

Consider reading The State and Revolution if you want to see the Marxist theory of Revolution.
